Olivia Colman has played some major roles in her time, some of which required her to perform some pretty wild scenes. However, one could argue that his work continues Wicker was particularly challenging. As part of director Alex Huston Fisher and Eleanor Wilson’s romantic drama film, Coleman had to shoot sex scenes involving a character made of wicker. Now, as the explosive and quirky film is performing well at the box office in its first week, Colman is talking about how “extremely embarrassed” she was when it came to the love scenes.
Oscar winner Coleman recently spoke entertainment tonight and talked about developing chemistry between him and co-star Alexander Skarsgård. As the fan-favorite actress admitted, it wasn’t easy. In fact, she credited the fact that Skarsgård wore the wicker suit as an advantage, in addition to some help from the crew:
I’m quite square, so it helped a lot that we had a wicker suit. [Alexander and I] Trust each other and the director are a married couple. And that’s what happened – there was a lot of laughter.

whatever was there was also priceless Wicker There was an intimacy coordinator in the middle of the production. Although the man wasn’t on staff to answer questions about the splinters and other dangers of making love with a wooden creature, he helped Colman and Alexander Skarsgård prepare the scenes and made the whole experience less uncomfortable:
We had Ita O’Brien, who was our intimacy coordinator. A good intimacy coordinator is invaluable. They can remove embarrassment. They choreograph it, so it’s not like ‘I don’t know what to do with my hand or what to do next.’ He made it very easy. ‘Cause, you know, I would find that kind of thing extremely embarrassing. I’d actually rather put poop in my eye than do that. [Laughs] But it was a lot of fun with everyone involved.
It’s good to hear Olivia Colman’s positive thoughts on the filming experience. It appears that she is not the only one who has enjoyed the film and its rollout, as the marketing team has pulled out all the stops to make the film a viral sensation on social media. Everything from the inspired poster to that wild popcorn bucket brought this unconventional film into the mainstream eye, which would lead to continued success at the box office.
Plus, it’s fun to hear another story of Skarsgård doing a sex scene in prosthetics, and the weird thing is that it happened twice. Just a few years ago, Alexander’s brother Bill talked about how terrifying and difficult it was to film sex scenes. Nosferatu. I guess now they have a shared experience to talk about should they get together for the holidays?
As far as Olivia Colman is concerned, she can now hang her hat on the fact that she’s a part of one of the strangest movies of 2026. Unfortunately, this means that he may have to go through some painful situations. Wicker Jokes come up during awards season, because I know the Golden Globes and Oscar writers will have a field day coming up with material for this.
I can see Alexander Skarsgård getting a lot of jokes too, and not just because Wicker. I still haven’t gotten over those transparent shoes she wore on the red carpet, and I’m still wondering why anyone would want that. However, I’m digressing because this is about work. And both Skarsgard and Coleman should be commended for their efforts.
