Amid speculation that she has moved on from ex-husband Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman insists she is “embracing love”.
The actress discussed her split, saying, “I always wanted to live a well-examined life.” British Vogue InterviewPublished on Thursday. “So what does that mean? Trying things, making mistakes, failing, getting back up, moving forward, embracing love, being open, having an open heart and possibilities.”
The 59-year-old “Practical Magic 2” star said he “didn’t expect” his life to take such a turn – “but this is the way it is now.”
Kidman explained, “You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of how it’s all going to be and then it… doesn’t. You have to adjust. You adapt.
“The future, it’s completely unknown to me right now,” the Oscar winner continued, calling it a “weird” concept.
She further added, “There was a time when I was very scared and very insecure about that being exposed.” “And then at the same time [I’m] Going, “Well, either I really can’t cope with this and just shut down, or I can just move forward with enormous amounts of hope.'”
Kidman, in particular, split from Urban, 58, last year after nearly two decades of marriage and two children — daughters Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15.
The former couple finalized their divorce in January.
At Thursday’s meeting, Kidman credited “timing” and “incredible mentors” for helping her navigate the change.
“Part of the way they look at life is sometimes [to say to me]: ‘Nicole, you just have to take it on the chin,'” she told the magazine. “Once you accept that, instead of going, ‘Well, that’s not fair or that’s unjust,’ you say, ‘Well, yes, actually that’s not fair. Because things aren’t fair.’
“I know my character,” she added. “I know my talents. I know who I am. If I make a mistake and she can’t connect, or something goes wrong in my life where she’s abusive, that’s OK. Other people have that and that’s OK. Take responsibility for it.”
Kidman said she lives with a “feelings-centric” approach and “doesn’t overthink”, adding, “I lead with my heart. I just say, ‘Okay, what am I feeling here? I’ll give it a try.’ It frustrates people, because I think they think I’m going to be more measured and I’m not.”
Last month, the “Big Little Lies” star made headlines for getting close to private equity investor Michael Reinstein during an Italian stay.
Kidman has not yet confirmed the rumored new romance.
Urban, for his part, has been linked to Carly Scott Collins — which the 26-year-old country singer has denied.
