Trump calls Bill Maher a ‘complete and utter loser’ on Truth Social

President Donald Trump fiercely targeted Bill Maher 1,300 word truth social post on Sunday After watching Maher’s late-night show on HBO.

“Let’s talk about this complete and utter loser, Bill Maher,” Trump wrote at the top of the post, days after the pair’s second dinner at the White House.

Trump called “Real Time with Bill Maher” a “low-rated show” and said that HBO, once the home of quality programming in his view, has lost its heat. He also claimed that Maher had wanted to see him as a guest on the program for a long time and said that it would never happen.

Most of the posts were related to the latest dinner, which Trump said was also attended by Stephen A. Smith and Kid Rock. Trump alleged that Maher was drunk and had a drink in her hand during the White House visit. He also called Maher a “major pothead” and said the comedian “looked like hell this time.”

“It didn’t last four hours, it lasted two hours, maybe less, and everybody was happy,” Trump wrote. “We have timestamps. I didn’t learn anything, and thought it was a waste of time.”

Trump placed responsibility for both meetings on Maher’s business associate Chuck LaBella, whom he said had worked as a “gofer” on NBC’s “The Apprentice.” According to Trump, LaBella and Kid Rock repeatedly pressured him to sit down, and LaBella called 10 times before arranging a second dinner.

“My first reaction was, ‘Guys, this guy is an idiot,'” Trump wrote.

The President also disputed what Maher said on air after the trip. He rejected Maher’s comments on his approval numbers and support among Republicans, citing a CNN poll which he said put him at 98% to 99% within the party, and defended his support record. He said he never intended to put a pool in the press briefing room, although he was considering whether to move journalists elsewhere. He also objected to Maher’s views on Iran and accused him of lying about illegal voting in California.

Trump praised former White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt for her guest appearance on “Real Time,” although he described the person asking him the question as a “biased, stupid sleazebag.” He told Maher to turn off what he called his “laugh machine” and said he would ask Republicans to stop covering the comedian.

“I never watched much of your show, but I will never watch it again because it is nothing more than the fake news that America and the world are unfortunately facing,” Trump wrote.

Maher first dined with Trump in a meeting brokered by Kid Rock at the White House in late March 2025 and afterward described the president as “compassionate and measured” on “Real Time.”
