jenny mccarthy wahlberg show A new episode was released on Monday, and this week’s guest is cruel intentions And legally blonde actress Selma Blair.
clarify, jenny mccarthy wahlberg The voiceover at the beginning of the episode states:
“Hey guys, before we get into today’s conversation, I just wanted to point out that this interview was recorded before the recent events involving Selma. I’m sending her nothing but love, compassion, and support. And I’m grateful we got the chance to have this conversation.”
As you know, Selma suffered a medical emergency delta Flight a few weeks ago. The incident resulted in the 54-year-old disability advocate being charged with two counts of second-degree assault, although his attorney pleaded not guilty.
Her representative has since released a statement, saying in part:
“Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight. No attempt was made to open the plane door. Selma did not intend to harm anyone.”
According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the condition is “an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system.” Affecting the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves, “this system controls everything we do. MS disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and the rest of the body.”
The Selma representative also asked people to reserve judgment until at least they know all the facts:
“There is much more to this story than has been reported, and we ask that the full facts be considered before making decisions, whether in a courtroom or the court of public opinion.”
Before all this, Selma talked to Jenny about life, love, motherhood, and multiple sclerosis.
For years she endured vague symptoms, eventually receiving a diagnosis of MS in 2018. She talks about the ’90s mtv Icon:
“I was actually very relieved to get the MS diagnosis because by the time my son was born, I was feeling great throughout the pregnancy. I didn’t realize 1) that I had MS and 2) MS often goes completely, you know, in remission or relapse-free like when you’re pregnant. [Then] I gave birth and was like, ‘I’m not okay.’ Like, ‘I’m really not okay. I can’t walk. I can’t stay awake. I can’t. The pain was very severe. And they just say, ‘Oh, it happens once you give birth.'”
She further said, one day due to pain she had to get a steroid shot in her neck. After the shot she began experiencing dystonia – painful spasms that cause sudden, involuntary muscle contractions and abnormal movements.

She explained that her body was “making circular movements and doing things that I had never done before that I couldn’t stop” She saw a doctor who at first questioned whether it could be a neurological problem or anything with her spine. Apparently even the doctor wondered if it was just an “emotional” issue! Ugh!
But the timing worked out for Selma as she experienced falling asleep “at that exact moment” in her doctor’s office. Selma says her boyfriend, who was there with them, told the doctor:
“She does it all the time. She just falls asleep.”
This clearly worried the doctors, who felt it might ultimately be neurological. Eventually an MRI was ordered and she was finally diagnosed with MS. This brought great relief to Selma. At last he got the answer to all his pain and shocking experiences.
Meanwhile, his co-star the sweetest thing, christina applegateMyself was experiencing unexplained neuropathy problems. Their children attended the same school, and one day while the children were playing in one of their houses, Selma says:
“She was sitting outside, and she was in a lot of discomfort. She had a lot of neuropathy in her legs. And she was saying it was diverticulitis — something I was diagnosed with too, I was younger — and when she said she had pain in her legs, I remember how much pain I had in my legs for four years after having kids. And I said, ‘I don’t mean to push my stuff on you, but you should get an MRI. Like, it sounds neurological. You may have MS.’ She was like, ‘I don’t know, honey. Not me, I don’t have this stuff. I said, ‘I don’t know, just get an MRI.’
Christina was diagnosed with MS in 2021. Unfortunately, as we learned in great detail today, his diagnosis turned out to be a misdiagnosis.
Her chronic pain is very real, her symptoms are real, but according to her doctors, they have determined that she does not have MS. He revealed the news through his podcast on Tuesday Jamie-Lynn SiglerTelling the audience:
“[The doctor] Came into my room and said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS.’ I was not happy at all. Everyone else was very happy.”
While Christina understands that such news will come as a shock to some people, for her it simply means she is back to square one:
“You don’t misdiagnose and then all of a sudden I get better. If anything, I get worse. So I’m back to where I don’t know what’s happening to me. And it’s going to be an online test that my doctors are going through just to find out what’s been happening since 2021, why did this happen?”
We know this must be very difficult for Christina, and we hope she can get real answers soon.
As for Selma, she’s still receiving treatment for MS.
“No two MS [journeys] look the same. There are some variable things. …I remember asking Jamie-Lynn Sigler Like in the beginning how do you deal with this fatigue? Like I don’t know what to do. She says, ‘Oh, that’s not my issue. My issue is other things. And so it depends on what’s attacking your system.”
