Russell Brand trial: Fourth woman alleges ‘violent’ sexual assault

Russell Brand’s criminal trial continued in London on Tuesday with the testimony of a fourth accuser, who alleges the actor and comedian violently assaulted her while she worked at Capital Radio in the early 2000s.

Brand is charged with three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault related to incidents that occurred with six women from 1999 to 2009. He has pleaded not guilty and denies all charges against him.

Speaking from behind a blue screen – all alleged victims of sexual assault cases are allowed to remain anonymous for life in the UK – at Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday, Brand’s fourth accuser detailed the alleged assault, which she said took place during the summer of 2004 or 2005.

As reported sky NewsThe woman said she was having a “normal day” at work when she ran into Brand in the Capitol office, who “jumped on me” after leaving the room. Brand, who the accuser said was accompanied by a woman and three men, “grabbed my face, and was pushing his body onto my body, literally pushing me backwards,” she alleged.

She claimed he pushed her against a wall and began kissing her, and described the alleged attack as “violent,” “slutty” and “frantic.”

“He touched my buttocks, my breasts, his hand was on my waist and his other hand was pinning me to the wall and his body was absolutely pressed against me,” she said, according to Sky News. Asked by prosecutor Riel Carmi-Jones Casey how forceful Brand was, the woman said: “It was hard, his whole body was pressed against me… His hands were moving up and down, it was very violent. It was hard, and he just wouldn’t stop.”

The alleged victim said the woman and three men accompanying Brand did not intervene. “He didn’t say anything, he didn’t move,” she said. “It was the middle of the work day, and they didn’t say anything.”

According to Sky News, the woman eventually pushed Brand away and told him to “fuck off”. Brand fell back and started laughing loudly, causing one of the men to laugh too, she claimed.

She then left the building to smoke a cigarette and told the court she felt “dirty, dazed, stunned and shaken”. She did not tell anyone about the alleged incident at the time, but reported it in 2023 after watching a few minutes of a Channel 4 documentary about the allegations against Brand.

The brand’s trial is expected to last for six weeks.
