Miley Cyrus debuted her “Miley: Bass Persuades – Live at the Hollywood Bowl” show at the famed Los Angeles venue on Friday night, giving her first headlining performance in years.
The pop star, who is going solo as Miley for this era, announced this pair of Friday and Sunday shows in early September as well as the news that her new album, “Bass Persuades,” will be released on September 18 via Atlantic Records. “It’s been a long time,” Cyrus said of the show at the time on Instagram. “The Hollywood Bowl is my favorite place to experience music and see my favorite artists. I’ve sat in those seats many times, but I’ve never taken the stage. LA is my heart and I’m bringing it home. See you there. ❤️ Miley.”
In fact, it’s been a long time since Cyrus has been on stage as a headliner outside of festivals. The closest approximation was at the taping for the 20th anniversary special of “Hannah Montana” earlier this year and before that at a performance of “Spotify’s Billions Club Live” for a select group of fans in Paris last June. A month before that, she launched her new album “Something Beautiful” with a fan-only TikTok event at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The last time they did a full tour for “Bangerz” was in 2014.
Cyrus has opened up about her decision not to tour British Vogue After the “Bangerz” tour in 2023, they decided to take a break from it. “It’s been a minute,” he said at the time. after the last [headline arena] show i did [in 2014]I saw it as a question. and I can not. Not just ‘can’t’, because can’t is your ability, but my desire. “Do I want to live my life for someone else’s happiness or satisfaction other than my own?”
Last month, Cyrus clarified her stance on live performances during an event Interview With Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, she revealed that she would be more open to doing a residency. “It’s the perfect dress rehearsal,” he said of his bowl show. “Now I go through the queue to find out my calculations are correct and people will come to me. I don’t have to drive to you. Proved, that was a quick test. I won. So it’s perfect because people love watching me perform and I love sleeping on my marshmallow bed so we can both be happy.”
