Eamonn Holmes’ girlfriend Katie Alexander’s latest social media post was, we must say, particularly revealing about her state of mind. Not so much for the words she used to caption the photo of herself on the beach — but for the specific jewelry she wore with her turquoise bikini and Gucci sunglasses.
Her necklace was made of red thread and she had a matching bracelet on her left wrist – a set that seemed to indicate a commitment to the spiritual teachings of Kabbalah.
Its followers and fans wear Lal Dora jewelery as a kind of amulet to ward off the evil eye, negative energy and any other misfortune. And those who know Katie say that this protection is much needed at this time.
This image was posted just days after I told how Eamonn’s family unexpectedly came together, his two ex-wives and all, to save him as he struggled to recover from his recent stroke.
In the cryptic caption Katie wrote alongside the photo, she mused: ‘There’s a quiet kind of strength in being comfortable with who you are.
‘There is no longer a need to prove, explain or seek validation – simply choose peace, protect your energy and find beauty in the life you are creating.
‘Softness is strength. Peace is a luxury. And knowing your worth changes everything. Start with yourself.
Eamonn Holmes, 66, and Katie Alexander, 45, have been dating since 2024
But I can now reveal the truth behind his words.
Because Katie really is ‘completely upset’ and feeling ‘very, very upset’ over the latest turn of events involving her 66-year-old boyfriend. Friends believe Eamonn’s ex-wives Ruth Langsford and Gabrielle Holmes and their children have ‘put him off’ since they got together.
A source familiar with the situation says, ‘The Holmes clan have worked together to form a closer unit as they consider Eamon’s future.’
‘But Katie has been left alone in the cold, and it’s very upsetting for her.
‘There’s no love lost between Katie and Ruth, or between her and some of Eamonn’s wider family, but Katie feels they haven’t been very kind to her, as keenly as she wants her to come out on the other side of her stroke better than they have.
‘There are some people close to Eamon who think Katie is after his money and the fame that comes with being his girlfriend. Some people have created this story about him which is extremely unfair.
‘She loves Eamon and is absolutely devastated that he has been unwell for so long. This is devastating for her – and it’s only being made worse because she feels Eamonn’s family aren’t treating her well.’
Katie, who is around 22 years Eamon’s junior, has been dating the TV star since his marriage to Ruth, 66, ended in the summer of 2024 – although it is suspected they knew each other very well before then.
Previously married, therapist Katie has two children with her ex-husband and lives with him part-time in Yorkshire.
But they also set up a base in Eamonn’s £5,000-a-month rented penthouse apartment in Kingston upon Thames, south-west London, when he moved there after leaving their £3.4 million marital home in nearby Weybridge.
He and Katie regularly attended glamorous showbiz events and holidayed together on a cruise around the Mediterranean, in which Katie was seen pushing Eamon in his wheelchair.
There were also rumors that Eamonn and Ruth might get married as soon as their divorce is finalized.

But it all ended suddenly in April when a carer discovered Eamonn suffering a stroke and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Eamonn was last seen in public in June, with Katie by his side. Posing in his NHS hospital garb and struggling not to smile, he promised fans he would be back on their screens.
“I can’t wait to get out of this gown and back into a suit and tie,” he said. ‘Watch this space, I’ll be back after this break.’
That optimism has been replaced by deep concern about his future.
While Eamon is in hospital, Katie is asked to leave the Kingston apartment where she has been living partly for the past three years.
Sources told me the decision was taken by Ruth and Eamonn’s children from his first marriage – Declan, Rebecca and Niall.
I’m also told the flat has been handed back to the landlords as Eamonn is unable to live there, with Katie reportedly ‘devastated’ having to unload her belongings.
‘The rent was really, really expensive and Eamonn has been in hospital for a very long time,’ says my source. ‘It was a case of throwing good money after bad.
‘However, when Katie was not in Yorkshire with her children she was living there. This meant she could live close to Eamonn for visits, but Eamonn’s family decided it should be handed back, which meant Katie had to evacuate.
‘Their decision is quite understandable but it was still upsetting for Katie. It was here where she and Eamonn shared most of their time. He may be struggling physically, but he’s a charming, very funny guy and they had a lot of good times there.’
Those who know Katie are also quick to point out that as Eamonn and Ruth’s divorce became increasingly toxic, and the GB News presenter fell out with her son Declan (extraordinarily, he sided with his stepmother rather than his father), Katie was the one who was constantly there for him during his health problems.
There is ‘no love lost’ between Katie and presenter Ruth Langsford, whose marriage to Eamonn ended in 2023
It started with a double hip replacement in 2016, followed by troublesome back problems due to a displaced pelvis and slipped disc, which eventually left him dependent on a wheelchair.
Spinal surgery in 2022 failed to correct his problems and repeated falls and further procedures worsened his pain.
A source says, ‘Katy made him smile when things weren’t really pleasant for him.’ ‘The others ran away but she was there, with him.
‘Eamonn has been in wars and Katie gave him some insight into how to live a good quality life.’
One wonders what Ruth would think of this approach. She endured her difficult times with Eamonn. Their separation was a sad end for one of TV’s most beloved couples, which came as a shock to many.
Their relationship lasted 27 years, beginning three years after Eamon and first wife Gabrielle separated amid the stresses of his career in London, while she remained in her native Belfast.
When Eamonn and Ruth got together in 1997, she was co-hosting BBC TV’s The Really Useful Show.
In 2002, she gave birth to their son Jack and they married eight years later in a star-studded wedding at Elvetham Hall in Hampshire.
As host of ITV’s This Morning, he was known for his banter and occasionally revealing details about his marriage.
But since their separation, they have been fighting over money and the marital home.
The following month, they were due to face each other in Brighton Family Court after failing to agree a financial settlement over their joint property.
After negotiations broke down Ruth initiated court action seeking ‘financial remedies’.
A source says, ‘Katy made him smile when things weren’t really pleasant for him.’
However, there is a suggestion that, given Eamonn’s illness, such a grueling legal battle may no longer be appropriate.
My source says, ‘Circumstances have changed now.’ ‘There is very little chance of Eamonn being in a position to go to court.
‘His health and well-being is now a priority for Ruth and her family. And Ruth will never see Eamonn’s children leave without her, she is very close to them.’
As for Eamon’s future, he will not be returning to GB News, the network he joined after being axed by ITV, in 2022.
Informed sources confirmed to me that his illustrious broadcasting career was over as it became clear that he no longer had the physical strength to meet the demands of broadcasting live every morning.
He has not been seen on the news channel since March 11 and had suffered several embarrassing on-air mishaps in the period before his illness.
In March last year, he fell off his chair live on TV and a month ago he was seen sleeping on air.
He has previously spoken about needing physiotherapy every morning to get himself ready to get out of bed and go on screen.
‘This has all ended tragically for Eamon, which is heartbreaking for everyone. But let’s not forget that during these last difficult years, it was Katie who was taking care of him at home and keeping him happy,’ says my source.
‘Surely it must mean something.’
