read flyers”Geordie Greep’s a rapist. You know what you did this morning on October 8th. He thinks he can do whatever he wants. Tell him what Vancouver thinks about rapists.”
Greep took the stage about an hour later than scheduled and performed without his backing band while addressing leaflets distributed outside the venue.
“Essentially what happened last night was, me and some guys in the band went to some bars, we went around, we met people, and it ended up being in a situation where I got really late to a house party, I got the wrong end of the stick with someone who was there, and I made a move, and it didn’t work out,” Greep. told the audience.
“Of course, I apologized immediately, and it was a complete misunderstanding on my part. I felt very bad, I was very sorry, and extremely upset by the whole situation. I would never rape a woman. I’m not a rapist. That’s not how it happened.”
Greep said he would perform alone at the Vancouver concert because he “did not want to force them to still play shows in light of that incident.” He also said that the proceeds from the show would be donated to an anti-violence organization in British Columbia.
Greip added, “We were unsure what the reaction would be to all of this, and I can only tell you that if people want a refund that’s OK, if they want to leave that’s OK too.” “I just wanted to be transparent with you about what happened. I’m very, very, very sorry. I made someone uncomfortable without meaning to. That’s not a good thing, that’s not cool.”
