Zilis, a Neuralink executive who shares four children with Musk, announced on Friday, October 2, that their romantic relationship had ended. Her account reveals that the split happened very quickly, with Zilis saying that she came to the point of “letting go” of love within a week.
“It’s hard to fall out of love for a week without warning, but sometimes that’s just the way it is,” Zillis wrote on X. Zilis shared a screenshot of what appeared to be an affectionate text conversation with Musk shortly before the breakup.

Shivon Zilis says Elon Musk breakup happened “without warning”
Zilis did not hide the emotional impact of the relationship’s end. “I love her more than life itself,” he wrote, according to Insider. He also said that Musk taught him “the wisdom of 100 lifetimes” and brought tremendous meaning to his life.
Zilis wrote extensively about the love they found during their relationship and the family they created together. She said she was happy to show Musk what it was like to be “deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved” and described the family as her “safe place.”

Zilis added, “I’m in pain, but I care about E a lot.” She said she would continue to wish happiness for him.
He ended his statement with a message directly addressing Musk: “Oh my God, Elon, the world is lucky to have you.”

One of the biggest revelations was a screenshot of an exchange posted by Zillis, which she said took place shortly before the relationship ended. “I love you so much,” Zilis told Musk after they met for breakfast, The Exchange reports.
Musk responded, “I love you too.”
In the same September 24 exchange, Musk reportedly told Zillis that he did not realize that significant others would be attending an upcoming dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping, adding that otherwise he would have invited them.
