Ashley, 40, wrote in an essay, “At the age of 22, I really became something, not remotely in the way I had planned. Ashley confessed that she “did that thing for two years” and that “almost no one” in her life knew about it until she made headlines during Spitzer’s prostitution scandal.
She wrote, “When I was 22, the FBI knocked on my door and showed me a photo of a man I had seen. I had no idea who he was.” “When he told me he was governor of New York, I couldn’t understand what was going to happen.”
In 2008, Ashley, then known as Ashley Dupre, was identified as the woman at the center of a high-profile prostitution scandal involving Spitzer. Spitzer resigned as governor a week after the government learned of his involvement in the escort service through a wiretap investigation.
“Soon, my stage name and face were on the front page of the New York Post,” she continued. “There was almost a ridiculous irony to it. I came to New York City and wanted people’s attention, and suddenly everyone was paying attention to me – for one thing I never wanted anyone to know.”
Months after the scandal, Ashley met Alix’s father, tj earl. At the time, TJ was still married to his first wife, alissa earlwith whom he has daughters Alix and ashtin earl.
Ashley recalled, “A few months after the scandal broke, I met TJ by chance at Parker House, a local restaurant in New Jersey. We talked for five or six hours and we had an instant connection.” “TJ was married. We crossed a line that we shouldn’t have crossed and I take responsibility for my role in it.”
Ashley admitted that her and TJ’s actions “affected and hurt others, including his wife, Alissa, and daughters, Alix and Ashtyn.”
She added, “I don’t take it lightly. But at the same time, the life that TJ and I ultimately created is very meaningful to me.” “I can admit that the way our relationship started was complicated and caused pain without letting it define everything that came after. Both things can exist at the same time.”
After TJ and Alissa’s divorce, he and Ashley married in 2013. Ashley became a stepmother to Alix and Ashtyn, and their relationship had already fallen apart.

“Of course, our relationship was not easy at first. He did not need my approval, and I did not expect it,” he shared. Alix joked that she once researched putting Nair in my shampoo, so it’s safe to say things weren’t always smooth.
After enduring “difficult years”, Ashley was able to connect with her stepdaughters. Their family grew when Ashley and TJ welcomed Isabelle, Penelope, and Thomas in 2012, 2015, and 2017, respectively.
She said, “We kept coming forward, talking and giving each other the opportunity to feel what we needed to feel. I deeply respect Alissa and the way she worked through those years. The fact that we were ultimately able to move forward is something I never take for granted.” “I wouldn’t change how our family started, and I wouldn’t insult anyone by pretending it didn’t hurt. But I’m incredibly proud of what we all built afterward. Today, Alix and Ashtyn are the two most important people in my life.
