Anthony Scaramucci reacts to Katie Zakaria’s White House tenure

Anthony Scaramucci reflected on Katie Zakaria’s tenure as White House press secretary as shorter than her 10-day stint as Donald Trump’s communications director in 2017.

“Records are meant to be broken,” Scaramucci wrote on X. Then, he added, “But I take no pleasure in other people’s pain.”

Zakaria’s tenure as press secretary ended on Friday after less than a week. His departure followed his first press conference on Tuesday, which lasted only 14 minutes and was, in the words of Sean Hannity, “widely condemned.” Zakaria also faced questions from Hannity and others that he labeled himself a lawyer, even though he had not passed the California bar exam.

Scaramucci said in a later post, “Dear Katie Zacharias, speaking as the world’s leading expert on short White House tenure: Turn off the news and enjoy your family. Over time you will realize the universe has done you a huge favor.”

Scaramucci has joked about his own tenure, as the phrase “a Scaramucci” refers to a 10-day period. He was forced out of his role in 2017 after being quoted in a New Yorker story criticizing other members of the administration. He has since become a prominent critic of Trump and endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race.

Zakaria was still supportive of the President hours after his departure.

“President Trump is a kind, wonderful, compassionate, thoughtful, enthusiastic and hard-working person,” he wrote on Twitter on Friday evening. I wish more Americans would appreciate him. No one will ever make America great the way they have and are making it. It was an honor to work for him.”
