The winners of Celebrity Traitors have said they are relieved they no longer have to hide the biggest secret in British TV, as they reunited to celebrate their win.
Actor Sebastian Croft and comedian Romesh Ranganathan came in last place, with the two loyalists splitting the £83,000 prize pot between their chosen charities.
“I’m feeling good, it’s great to finally be able to talk about it properly,” Croft, known to friends as Bash, told BBC Newsbeat.
The second series of the hit BBC One show came to an end on Friday, after the original 21 celebs were reduced to seven finalists.
Reuniting with Ranganathan on the comedian’s BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday morning, Croft said they were worried about being seen together in public ahead of the final.
He said, “We were having dinner and we weren’t really a potential couple and the whole restaurant was like, ‘We like you in Traitors and hope you win’.”
Croft said he woke up on Saturday with “this faint feeling that I don’t need to keep secrets anymore. It’s killing me”.
Ranganathan, 48, began his show by saying: “Last night, I don’t know if you know, was the finale of The Celebrity Traitors and I won.”
He said he was “glad to win” but admitted that he probably would not have done so without Croft convincing him to exile the last remaining traitor, King Kenny.
“It takes a little bit of the shine off of it that everyone is saying, ‘You better be thankful [Croft] Every day for the rest of your life,” he added with his characteristic humor.
But Croft, 24, said he thought Ranganathan had played the game “beautifully”.
He praised, saying, “People are seeing how smart you are and how smart you really are, and you’re such a good judge of character.”
