In a 2017 lawsuit, former inmate Anthony Maimana accused a prison lieutenant of retaliating against him by imprisoning him in a cold room known as the “Yellow Room” for four days.

Mammana claimed that she was stripped of her normal clothes and forced to wear thin, transparent clothes, while she was refused a blanket, bedsheet and pillow.

They also said that bright lights are on around the clock, depriving them of sleep, and that they are deprived of basic necessities, including toilet paper, soap and towels, while guards mock them.

The court held that the treatment of Mammana was inhumane. However, due to legal technicalities, he could not claim compensation.
