When we got the chance to sit down with Ashley Benson and Shilo Fernandez in the new neo-noir thriller “Private Property” (Watch the tense trailer here), we couldn’t resist diving into the stars’ own perceptions about relationships and red flags. Ultimately, the film covers the interconnections between characters that are much more than they seem.
How does Benson determine whether a new person’s intentions are friendly or romantic? She told us that she “gets the vibe right away… You can tell someone’s intentions by how they approach you.” Although she also said that “you can play the character a little bit,” she confirmed that she sees herself as a “very good judge of character.” Fernandez agreed, saying that Benson had “a good radar” and that he had previously predicted that people in his class would work out of their own pockets, only for those individuals to repeatedly prove him right. If only Benson’s character in “Private Property” had that same radar. . .
When it comes to red flags, Benson said it should be on a case-by-case basis: “It depends on each person that comes into your life. There have been red flags talked about a few times, but I never really paid attention because I was so surprised, like, you know, the first kind of stage of a relationship.” This is definitely a feeling that most people who have dated these days can understand!
We also got a chance to ask Benson about her “Pretty Little Liars” years. Was there anything she wished her character, Hannah, would have accomplished or was she hoping something would have been different? In fact, after covering all aspects of Hannah, Benson could only say: “The only thing I wish she would have been an A, but obviously that didn’t happen. So that could have been the end for her. Which would have been fun.” Watch her face glow as she enjoys this prospect On POPSUGAR’s Instagram!
