Chrissie Hynde praises Taylor Swift’s song ‘Cleveland’!

The new song “Cleveland!” But, Taylor Swift clearly gives her critics permission to hate all they love, but Chrissie Hynde has only positive things to say about the pop star and the track.

In a Friday (Oct. 2) post on Instagram, The Pretenders frontwoman gave fans an update, part of which was dedicated to Swift’s beloved Ohio-themed onesie. The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore way. “I was thrilled to hear Taylor Swift’s new song Cleveland,” Hinde wrote. “Now there’s a girl who continues to be a pioneer… In fact, she may be the only person in history who has actually written a song about Cleveland.”

“Though come to think of it, I remember Cleveland on my first album Precious,” she continued. “Maybe Taylor really is trying to get ahead in her career by emulating you… though I strongly suspect it has more to do with her Cleveland native husband’s new hobby.”

“Cleveland!” It’s actually pretty transparent about Swift’s husband, Travis Kelce. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was born and raised in the Cleveland Heights area, and the song’s lyrics feature the 14-time Grammy winner singing about exploring the city with him while blocking out the rest of the world’s negative thoughts. Also, “Cleveland!” The music video features home footage of the couple driving in a car together as Kelce gives Swift the grand tour.

The track is one of four new songs released by Swift in late September dancer Deluxe, which returned the project to number 1 on the Billboard 200 for a 13th consecutive week on the chart dated October 10. Regardless, “Cleveland!” It was always destined to be a smash hit in Kelsey’s heart, with the football player calling it “a banger” in his recent episode new heights podcast.

“Either way, hats off to Taylor for celebrating Akron’s main competition…Cleveland Ohio,” Hynde said. “I certainly have countless memories of adventures in Cleveland…it’s a hell of a city.”
