“Oh Captain, my Captain….”
Even though I was born long after The Originals star trek series aired, I never got into the original series until much later in life. This was my first real introduction to Star Trek Star Trek: The Next Generation. That series took me back to the original series and all the Star Trek series that followed. Because of this my brother and I were also members of a local Star Trek club (I was in charge of the club’s newsletter, learn!) Captain Jean-Luc Picard (sir patrick stewart) was my first starship captain so I was very sad to hear the news of his death.

Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet and interview most of the next generation Mold. I have met and interviewed jonathan frakes And marina sirtisAlthough coincidentally, both were via Hallmark Channel movies They came forward.
I was very fortunate to not only interview Patrick Stewart on several occasions picard And also for other Star Trek projects blunt matter Although now I’m regretting not asking for a picture with her! Stewart seemed warm and kind, like someone you want to hug when you’re feeling down. Someone you want to have a cup of tea with on a stressful day and just share stories (or just listen to him tell you stories about his life) and someone you want to tell all your secrets to and know he’ll keep it a secret.
During a Zoom interview for the second season of Star Trek: PicardI managed to ask one last question that had nothing to do with the show: who was their celebrity crush?
His answer? Doris Day.
It was such a sweet, unexpected moment and one that I have cherished for years. In honor of Stewart’s life and legacy, I’m finally sharing that clip. Watch below to hear him explain why Doris Day holds such a special place in his heart.
Rest in peace, O Captain, my Captain.
