Bishop John CW warns preachers after viral video shows risky church ritual on child – K24 Digital

Bishop John CW, founder of Share the Love Centre, has warned preachers that they risk imprisonment and having their church registrations canceled due to practices that endanger children.

Responding to a viral video showing a preacher handling a small child during a church service, John condemned what he called a misinterpretation of Jesus and an undermining of the work of the cross.

“It will very soon put preachers in jail and have their church registrations cancelled,” John warned on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

“Misrepresenting Jesus and minimizing the work of the cross is the highest form of ignorance.”

The video shows a preacher lying on the church floor while he vigorously shakes a naked baby, who appears to be less than a year old, turning the child around and hitting them. The child is also heard making voices in the form of other congregants and preachers sitting on the stage.

These actions appear to have been part of a ritual conducted during a church service, although the purpose of the practice has not been independently established.

John CW expressed concern over child’s health

John CW also raised concerns about the possible health effects of the actions shown in the video and said he had sought a doctor’s opinion on the matter.

“I asked a doctor how it could affect the child’s health, and he told me it could result in brain injuries and neurological conditions,” he said.

Shaking a baby forcefully can cause serious brain injury and other life-threatening harm. However, the condition of the child and whether any injuries have occurred cannot be determined from the video alone.

John also criticized religious practices that he believed misrepresented Christianity, arguing that believers should address such conduct within their own circles before interference from outsiders.

John said, “There has come a time where we as believers must be willing to make ourselves right before the world, and then we start claiming that they are fighting us.”

John on criticism of religion

Additionally, John also challenged those who argue that people should leave other religions alone, insisting that his criticism was directed at practices that he believes distort Christianity.

“Leave other people’s religions alone, you say?” He posed. John said, “The gospel is about the kingdom of God, not about ridiculous man-made religion.”

He expressed disappointment at the reactions he received online to such incidents and suggested that public discussions reveal a broader problem with people’s ability to reason.

He said, “What a shame, the comments section will always tell you how stupidity has taken over our ability to reason.”

John said he and others are willing to speak out against practices they consider harmful, even if doing so results in criticism.

He declared, “Expect us or not, we are already here to do what cowards are afraid to do.”
