It has been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and, if that’s true, then a lot of people like Lorne Michaels. Over the years, famous Saturday night Live The creator has been impersonated several times, especially by those who know him personally. For example, singer Ariana Grande also does a Michaels impression. I would say that now the singer has a little competition in that regard, because Sesame StreetElmo also does a Michaels impression. And believe me when I say, it’s perfect.
many snl The cast members – Mickey Day, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla and Kenan Thompson – recently teamed up Sesame Street For a funny video. The clip features sketch comedy actors paired with the likes of Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, and others, essentially a parody of the NBC show’s creative process. Overall, it’s really well done, but it’s the moment when Elmo wears a suit and imitates Michaels during a discussion that really takes the cake. The video is on X and can be seen below:
We’re not sure Saturday Night Live’s new writers will make it to Showtime! 😴 https://t.co/6OxkAzb3bg26 October 2026
Over the years, I’ve found Elmo to be a fun character, and the furry, little monster has been a part of some funny moments (like this one). Viral Beef with Rocco). However, I never dreamed that I would hear the impact of the little Muppet snlCreator of. With that being said, I absolutely love it and can’t stop watching the video clips. Additionally, current Elmo puppeteer Ryan Dillon deserves credit for his fantastic voice. It should not be underestimated how much skill it takes to voice a character to make an impact on someone else.

I’m not the only person who’s been impressed by this notion of the occasionally cheesy Lorne Michaels. Many fans commented below the video, while others shared their reactions by reposting a separate post with impressions x: :
- Elmo’s Lorne impression was really cool! – @AFlockOf_Segels
- Lorne’s perception has no right to be this good. – @djghostmare
- Elmo doing a Lorne Michaels impression is really bugging me, because why is it good? – @wallowsgarden
- it’s all over. Lorne can never recover from this. NBC is finalizing negotiations with Tina Fey. – @redactedhills
- This is madness. I love it, get Elmo on hosting duties. – @John_Mike_
- I think Elmo is the most important and funniest person we have. – @vettealattee
Michaels aside, the video is funny for a number of reasons, ranging from the Muppets’ misunderstanding of the word “sketch” to the reference to Elmo’s aforementioned beef with Rocco. Chris Farley’s Matt Foley is also excellent while channeling Cookie Monster, and I never thought Oscar the Grouch would get his Debbie Downer moment. And how can I not mention channeling fan-favorite Elmo snl character domingo?
Whenever Elmo goes viral for one reason or another, it’s never a bad moment. In 2025, the beloved character went viral after admitting on social media that he was suffering from lack of sleep. Last summer, I also got excited when the character sent his well wishes to both teams in the NBA Finals – the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs. At this point, even when Elmo is hacked, it can actually be turned into a perfect moment.
To put it mildly, Elmo is the embodiment of many talents (and Ryan Dillon is pretty skilled too). Of course, it’s what I want now snl Sketch in which Elmo does his impression in the presence of Lorne Michaels. I can even begin to imagine what kind of dry-witted reaction a TV executive would have. However, for now, know this Sesame Street Airs on Netflix and PBS Kids stations, while new episodes Saturday night Live Aired at 11:30 pm ET on NBC amid the 2026 TV schedule.
