Inde Navarrete on meeting Pamela Anderson, ‘SNL’ and the X-Men

“Obsession” star Andy Navarrete had a busy weekend, going from the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday to the Newport Beach Film Festival on Sunday.

Navarrete participated in the festivities that ran through Thursday in Newport Beach as one of the Diversity10 actors to watch who were celebrated during the festival’s Honor Brunch.

while talking to of variety Mark Malkin on the festival carpet Navarrete said it was “amazing” to attend the ceremony. “I mean, you’re so overwhelmed and immersed in everything you’ve ever looked at, possibly ever, and meeting people and the reception that ‘Obsession’ is getting is so lovely… I’m so honored to visit with the Academy members and get an inside look at what that wonderful world is like.”

Jessica Lange and Pamela Anderson were two actresses Navarrete was excited to see Saturday night. “I talked to Jessica Lange, who’s an icon,” he said. “[And] The way Pamela carries herself with such grace and honesty and pure creativity and love is exactly who I want to be.

And Navarrete’s schedule isn’t slowing down just yet — she’s set to host this year’s “Saturday Night Live” Halloween episode with musical guest Gracie Abrams.

“I literally feel like I’m in,” the actress joked. “I’m really excited to keep everything a secret because I really want to make it super fun for the audience. And I love it when I don’t know anything. So I’m really excited to work with the writers.”

Additionally, the MCU’s upcoming “X-Men” film is also on the horizon, in which she will play the role of Rogue. Navarrete told Malkin that she has not directly corresponded with Anna Paquin, who originated the role, but that she feels “the correspondence started when I was younger, when I first fell in love with the ‘X-Men’ movies.”

On the subject of stunt training for the superhero film, Navarrete said it’s a good excuse to get himself into the gym. “I’ve always wanted to take part in something like this,” she said. “I think it’s a great excuse to go to the gym. I’m the laziest person, and I’m so excited to get up and move my body.”
