“Top Gun: Maverick” isn’t just Tom Cruise’s return to a star-making, iconic role after 35 years. Cruise lights up the screen with the likes of Jennifer Connelly, as well as an extremely talented team of new pilots. It stars Monica Barbero, Jay Ellis, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Greg Tarzan Davis and Danny Ramirez. Although they each bring a very unique perspective to their characters, we found that they have a lot of similarities.
In addition to the obvious excitement of taking part in this historic franchise (and the associated pressure of performing), he also has a deep respect and awe for Cruise. They certainly faced tough training to create authenticity for the long-awaited sequel, from simulated underwater helicopter escapes to months of stomach-churning aviation adaptations.
The cast went to incredible lengths to create this nonstop thrill ride, including directing Navy pilots and recording themselves in real fighter jets! Just watch Davis recount his excitement upon hearing that he was cast, and you’ll understand how excited these actors were when they got the call:
