Anna Wintour has announced she will be heading down for an exclusive Vogue fashion event next year – but some Australian fans believe there may be another reason behind her visit.
The veteran Vogue editor-in-chief, who resigned from the post last year after 37 years, recently appeared in a social media clip for the famous magazine’s Australian division, where she made a special announcement.
‘Hello, I’m Anna Wintour, speaking to you from Paris! “I am very excited to come to Australia on February 3 next year,” he said.
‘To join the forces of fashion at the Sydney Opera House. I look forward to seeing you there.’
The exclusive event will be a half-day summit bringing together some of the biggest names in fashion, with Wintour industry luminaries sharing their insights with guests.
Australian fans joked in the comments section that it was suspicious that the timing of the event came just days after the Australian Open – of which Wintour is a big fan.

Another said, ‘Undoubtedly tennis is the real reason for his visit to Australia.’
Meanwhile, the official page of the Australian Open posted a cheeky side-eyes emoji.
Someone else wrote, ‘Tennis before couture – this is your true passion.’
Wintour is a huge tennis fan and has previously traveled to Melbourne to attend the annual Australian Open, held every January.
Never one to pack lightly for trips, the world’s most famous fashion editor often displays her trademark style at the event.
In 2019, Wintour surprised fans by wearing two glamorous outfits on the same day.
The London-born media executive has also been spotted chatting with her A-list pals, including Nicole Kidman and Baz Luhrmann, at past events.
