A viral AI trend is taking social media by storm as it incorporates celebrities, animals, and more into Quavo and Takeoff’s 2022 “hotel lobby” performance on A Colors show.
Original video, posted four years ago ColorsxStudio Quavo and Takeoff, as Anak & Few, perform their track “hotel lobby” in the popular series. Now, the new AI trend replaces the two rappers with celebrities, athletes, politicians, superheroes, animals, and everyday people.
Some of the AI clips show former presidents like Barack Obama and Joe Biden reciting poems and imitating their hand gestures on the street at Quay and Tech. Another version added classic television characters such as breaking badWalter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) are rhyming, which is a hilarious scene.
It’s unclear when this trend started, but it seems to have originated on TikTok, when someone shared a clip of two cats mimicking Quavo and Takeoff’s A Colors show performance in early September. From there it spread like wildfire. One reason it has exploded in popularity is that these AI clips are so easy to create.
The easiest way to do this is to upload two clear, frontal photos of someone to the templates via an AI video generator app Stard Or Summary. From there, the software turns the faces into video, seamlessly syncing their hand movements, lip movements and background audio. In just a few minutes, the final rendering is ready to post on social media. While Starrd charges $5 per 15-second video, other content creators are distributing free CapCut templates instead.
While this appears to be a harmless AI trend, it still raises the debatable issue of online creators using people’s likeness and copyrighted brand IP without permission. still, Quavo re-publicizes A Colors show performance On his X account on Wednesday (September 23) in light of the trend.
