Anyone who has read the book remembers that despite the fact that they couldn’t stand each other in the beginning, Haymitch (Joseph Zada) and Macy’s (Mckenna Grace) became best friends in the end. Like brothers and sisters, really. They team up and stay together till the end.
I like that this close up shot tells us a few things. It looks like the end of the story is near because his pants are very dirty. And with just their tanks and vests, this arena outfit really highlights the 1960s/1970s atmosphere that influenced this period in Panem. That’s all I can think about when I look at Meseeli’s tank, collar, and bangs.
Another look at the District 12 tributes.
You may have seen this look in District 12 tributes (Lou Lu, Vet, Haymitch, and Maysily), but I wanted to include it anyway. I like that even though the costumes are different and something we haven’t seen before, they’re also a little boring.
If you remember, the whole reason Cinna and Katniss’s partnership was so big was because they revolutionized the District 12 genre. This much sunrise over reaping The team needed these costumes to be fresh but we needed something more.
Elle Fanning never disappoints.
But do you know who never leaves us hanging? In this case Effie Trinket and Elle Fanning. This shot of Effie and her sister Proserpina (Iris Apatow) really shows off the crazy Capitol fashion, and shows us even more of the 1970s influence. Bright colors, over-the-top accessories and sleek hair are the perfect blend of retro and futuristic. Chef’s kiss.
