Spoilers for the series premiere cupertino Ahead! You can watch the new show every Thursday at 8pm on CBS and stream episodes the day after they air Paramount+ Subscription.
Robert and Michelle King’s new legal drama, cupertino, premiered on 2026 tv schedule with a bang. The two main characters, Michael (Mike Colter) and Olivia (Rachel Keller) meet when they are fired from their jobs, and their joint cases against their former employer lead them to form their own law firm. Now, their work is really beginning. However, Mike Colter’s comments on the case that started the show gave me a theory about how this case will haunt his lawyer and new partner.
What Mike Colter Told Me About Michael and Olivia’s First Case
first frame of cupertino Show Michael and Olivia packing their boxes and moving out of the S-Talk building. Both of them were fired, and they decided to join forces to take down their former employer in court. She filed lawsuits for sexual harassment and wrongful termination, and by the end of the episode, her case was settled, and S-Talk is now dealing with major financial issues. So, recently fired lawyers got a happy ending this week, but it seems like it’s a problem that hasn’t been completely solved. Mike Colter told me this is probably true too, saying:

I think there’s always something that comes back. I mean, it’s a big issue that concerns us. It’s a big situation that launches us, and it’s a very small town. So I don’t think there is a case that once the work is done, they are necessarily finished. You know what I mean? I feel like any case in that small town can come back to rear its ugly head again, especially if the people you were against are still around, and they’re upset with you. I feel like there’s always a score to settle. You know what I mean?
As someone who watched King’s other shows, good wife And elsbeth (which airs just before cupertino Now)I know matters and problems (like situation) Judge Crawford on elsbeth) may come back to haunt the main characters. Coulter also confirmed this, saying that the situation with S-Talk could again “make its ugly appearance”. So, how will this happen? I don’t know, but I have a theory.
How I think their first case will come back to haunt them
Based on the last thing we learned about S-Talk, the company is currently in trouble and is taking a step back. They are playing defense. However, I think the people who fired Michael and Olivia will want to be aggressive once they get back on their feet, and will give everything they have to fire their former employees.
So, my guess is that’s exactly what they’ll do in the mid-season finale or finale of cupertino first season. Bringing this case back to the show feels very full-circle and a great way to shake things up after episodes of Michael and Olivia working on separate cases and growing their firm.
Also, it will be fun to see how they handle S-Talk after working together for a while. They did a great job at the premiere, and they had just met each other. So, bringing back their first case later in the season could be an entertaining and meaningful way to highlight their growth (or lack thereof) as a team.
Overall, I don’t think S-Talk is out of the picture. In fact, I think this case will haunt Michael and Olivia over the course of a big episode and challenge our two main characters in a way that will change their relationship and work.
Now, we’ll just have to wait and see if that happens in the new episode cupertino Airs every Thursday at 10pm ET on CBS.
