Barry Keoghan has finally broken his silence on rumors that he cheated on Sabrina Carpenter.
“I feel in a safe place to say this… but I’ve been avoiding things,” the Irish actor admitted during Tuesday’s episode. “Friends Keep Secrets” Podcast Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Bataluco talk about their split from the pop star.
“You know, I’ve been like, I’ve given up Instagram…and social profiles. I’ve stopped going to events. You know, I’ve just stopped hanging out.”
Keoghan said his absence was motivated by an “untrue” narrative that he had “never even really talked about” until now.
“I never confirmed it or said anything about it… I just disappeared,” the “Saltburn” star explained.
When Dickie (born David Bird) asked if infidelity was the “story” the actor was talking about, he confirmed that they were indeed the rumors he was referring to.
Keoghan said, “I never want to bring anyone else into this, but as you know, unfortunately, in the public eye there is a relationship – we all know that – you know, from our own stories.”
“It’s put there and it looks like… it’s been enhanced.”
“It’s hard because I never want to speak on behalf of other people and never want to mention other people or include them.”
The “Batman” actor said it is not his or his ex-wife’s place to “come forward and speak out” on their behalf because he feels it is “unfair to them.”
He said, “They are also in a relationship. It’s also the fact that we are both out with each other… I am well aware of that.”
Carpenter, 26, and Keoghan, 33, were romantically linked in December 2023 when they were spotted on a dinner date in Los Angeles.
The pair appear to have confirmed their romance a month later when they shared a “little kiss” while visiting an interactive museum in LA.
In December 2024, Page Six confirmed that the “Please Please Please” singer and the “Banshees of Inisherrin” actor had called it quits.
Rumors then surfaced that Keoghan cheated on Carpenter with an influencer named Brecky Hill, leading the Oscar nominee to deactivate her Instagram account due to all the criticism.
Hill rejected allegations that she ever had a relationship with the “Crime 101” actor, claiming that they had never met in real life and that she had only seen him on TV.
Keoghan has a 3-year-old son, Brando, with his former girlfriend, Alison Sandro.
