CBS News has scheduled a town hall with Vice President J.D. Vance ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
CBS Evening News Anchor Tony Dokoupil will anchor the program in Michigan, where key Senate and House seats are up for election. Michigan voters, who will also elect their first new governor in eight years, will be from all political parties. They will be able to ask questions and share their ideas.
According to CBS, issues discussed during the “Things That Matter” town hall will include congressional elections, affordability, tariffs, immigration, health care, artificial intelligence, the war with Iran, and the state of our democracy.
The one-hour special will air at 8PM ET/PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
This special is a big push for Dokoupil, given the primetime timeslot and the big meeting with Vance. It also continues CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss’ desire to hold more town halls and buzz events that also include newsmakers.
Previous CBS News Town Halls feature the Artemis astronauts, former U.S. Senator Ben Sasse (April 26) and Maryland Governor Wes Moore.
