alert! Spoilers ahead for the season 2 premiere cia But 2026 tv schedule! If you haven’t seen the episode yet, I really suggest you read one of our other excellent articles.
After a successful first season, a second season cia Officially here. FBI The offshoot started off Season 2 with action, twists, and even a cliffhanger that kept fans engaged throughout the hour. This involves killing someone at the beginning of the episode, and again I cannot express more emphatically that I am about to indulge in spoilers for the season 2 premiere.
Good news? While Nick Gehlfuss’s Bill is at the center of the episode, he’s around a lot. It was his father who died, although that wasn’t really even the most shocking part. The showrunner shared his opinion on the whole situation with CinemaBlend.

This was not a big surprise. Season 1 saw Bill grapple with the news of his father’s declining health, and his condition worsened in the premiere. His father’s death was really hitting him, and he didn’t really open up about his feelings. It even begins to affect his job and relationships, including his partnership with Colin (Tom Ellis).
This grief won’t go away so easily, as showrunner Mike Weiss shared with CinemaBlend, this is the beginning of a story, not the end.
We wanted to fully acknowledge the grief he was feeling. His father was his hero. He is not ready to admit how much it is affecting him. But then… by the end of the episode, we learn that her father was not the man he seemed. And so we’ll be able to really shake Bill down, and he’s going to mourn another time. She must discover who her father really was so she can figure out how to grieve for a man she never fully understood.
Losing a parent is hard, both in the fictional world and in real life. As for Bill, no matter how many times he told Hew he was okay, he definitely wasn’t okay, and even Colin saw it. Which brings me to my next point. The bill dealing with grief isn’t the most shocking part. At one point in the episode, Bill learns that his father went to Georgia for something that his mother didn’t even know about.
Here’s where the CIA is really interesting
With Colin’s help, Bill learns that his father, an honest Army veteran, was actually in the CIA. No one saw this coming, especially the fact that an assassin who had already killed three CIA operatives might be connected to him.
Moving forward, this realization will lead Bill to many questions related to “this huge mystery”. He told me that he knows the audience is paying attention and it will pay off. I can’t wait.
He figures out this big mystery, and, you know, it’s a TV show. So I think the audience is quite intelligent. Like, when that killer goes away at the end of the season premiere, I think people expect him to come back at some point. And the way he’s going to come back is that his past and Bill’s father’s CIA past intersect. And Bill is desperate to find out who his father really was. What did he do for the CIA?
Bill looked at his father. Now that he knows this CIA secret, he will start coloring every conversation he has with his father in a different light. It won’t be easy to learn more deeply about your father while grieving. Plus, there’s also a murderer involved. In short, he’s going to be asking himself a lot of questions.
I mean, on a simple, deep level, ‘Was my father a good man? What does it mean to me if my father wasn’t such a great man? Who am I? What latent behaviors might surface that I didn’t know I was capable of?’ The only way for him to find out who his father was and what he really did is to catch this killer who is the only person on Earth who really knows who Bill’s father was.
It’s clear this story will stick around for a while, and there’s no telling what else Bill will uncover about his father, but if the CIA wanted to start off with a bang, I think the show has achieved it.
